Lightweight wiring harness
Can someone detail what constitutes a lightweight wiring harness?
How much lighter than a standard wiring harness is a lightweight harness? What accessories will and will not work be provided for with a lightweight wiring harness; i.e. lights, radio, etc? Does anyone sell a racing harness, or is this something that needs to be made from the ground up? Thanks again. ![]()

You could probably make a car run with a few as 10 wires.
But...no radio...wipers...brake lights...etc. So the answer is...as light as you want. Bob

I did that while restoring my '76 Carrera 3.0. While removing the harness, I "ID"ed every wire, and marked the useless ones. I removed the wiring for:
radio, electric windows, front trunk light, inner lights, electric mirrors, thermostatic heating, cigar lighter, auxilliary heater in the smuggler's box. The weight removed was 22 lbs, but I also gained a ot of clarity in the wiring of the car. The complete wiring in the car is over 80 lbs. GeorgeK |
