850 miles and only two broken parts!
 

Just got back from a week at the coast, and only two things stopped working along the way. The A/C stopped working first,(which had previously been ice cold!) Next to go was the sunroof. On the plus side, it did run great, a pleasure most of the time, even with the hot weather.

well, I got the sunroof fixed! Thanks to some posts I found in the archives, and Wayne's great book. The cable on the drivers side had pulled out of the front guide. I reconnected the cable to the guide and crimped the connection. Put it all back together, and it works wonderfully. Now to tackle the AC....

Just wondering if that was you I passed on Hwy 321 in Blowing Rock on Monday. I was in a yellow targa. Anyways if that was you your car sounds great.

Nope, not me...I spent Monday washing and detailing the car after a week away from it's comfy spot in the garage.

This is exactly what I need to do to mine. You couldn't briefly document the process now could you?

I just got back from 1000 miles in SoCal and the only two broken things were my back from going 6 hours without stopping and my nose from the sunburn through the sunroof.

Fogcity..lol..about the sunroof. I really just followed the article in "101 projects". But in a nut shell, unzip the access to the rear headliner, unbolt the two screws holding the mechanism to the cables. Pop the sunroof headliner down(held in by some clips). Then unbolt the guides(4 spots) The roof comes right out. The broken cable was then obvious. I loosened the tracks so I could pull the guide out, then removed the cable(just pulls out). I re-attached the cable to the guide, re-crimped the connection, and reversed procedure. If it happens again, I'll spring for a replacement cable, but I use it so little, it may never happen. Do a search under "sunroof", and you'll find some good info also.

Thanks Dan, I now have something to do on Saturday morning. First week of spring over here - can no longer live without my sunroof.
