PCNA C.O. A. AKA Kardex, Accuracy
I broke down and paid the 100 buck to Barbara at PCNA for the infamous Certificate of Authenticity. Based on some of the stories heard around about inaccuracy and meager information they provide, I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. Here's what I got:
Chassis number 9113111806, 1973 Targa...............(duh) Engine number XXXXXX......................(Yup, it's a matcher) Transmission XXXXXX .........................(Yup, It's a matcher too) Build/delivery date 05/xx/73..................(matches the door sticker) USA equipment......................................... ...(Yes, sold new in S.F.) Antenna and noise suppression speaker....... (yes, dash speaker) Special order paint to sample #9910.....(?, my door tag says 624) Light alloy wheels...................... (yes, present and accounted for) Stabilizer bars.............................................. ..........(in situ) Green tinted windows................................. (original and present) Comfort package....................................(S trim? yes, gauges too) It is 100% accurate....so I guess I have a real Porsche. |

Jump - DId the presentation (paper, framing, gold leaf?) justify the $100? Would you recommend? How did you go about getting, just in case I am convinced ...

Well....not exactly gold leaf, but fancy water marked paper, with an embossed seal, and signed by some VP of something.
It was delivered in an embossed folder. I also got some Cayenne propaganda and another catalog of exquisite, but expensive Porsche products. Wow, I feel important now. To get one you send your dough and chassis number to Barbara Kurz at PCNA, sorry I don't have the address handy. Do a pelican search, it's liable to come up. I got the address from my 356 club magazine. Would I reccomend it? Not unless you need/want to restore to original, or if you are a documentation nut like me. One thing did surprise me though was that my car came with a front stabilizer bar as an option! My 45 year old 356 came with a front bar standard! |

It's amazing how something as simple as having the original yellow plate on the front of your Speedster makes all the difference in the world.
Replica? I don't think so! You should be a proud Papa.

I have a restoration project and would love to find out something about the previous owners. I've contacted PCNA and they said that even though the car was registered in the past to PCNA they can't disclose previous owners for privacy reasons. Can somebody help me?
