Get a jack pad and use a floor jack. Make sure it's pushed all the way in before you start jacking (nothing sexual here). You should be able to see any flex in the rocker trim. If it moves at all, stop. You can straighten out your rocker trim with a mallet and some sandbags.

Richard... do you mean: a jack pad that goes UNDER the jack to keep it stable?

Also you say "use a floor jack"...are you talking about the actual OEM Porsche jack (which I did use) ...or are you suggesting using a different jack all together?

I have a hydrolic jack, but it doesnt lift the car as high as the OEM jack does.

Hi Richard...sorry to bother with so many questions...but what do you mean by using that method? How do the sandbags come into play?

Here's what he means by jack pad. I have one. Very useful. Yes, you will need to use your trolly or floor jack. I block it once to get it higher, but wouldn't recomend it.

The OEM Porsche jack is worse than useless - well, I did get $35 for mine on eBay. A jack pad looks like a small ping pong paddle, and slides into the jack hole in the rocker panel. You then use a REAL floor jack to raise it. It's a pretty cool setup.

Hmm, my stock jack works great. I've used it several times and have raised the car as high as the jack will go using it. Make sure the jack is inserted way into the hole. Not having it far enough it will allow it to flex. Kind of like standing on the end of a tree branch or on the branch where it meets the trunk.

That said, Sonic, a "jack pad" is a square shaft that fits into the hole for the stock jack and then has a large usually round puck attached to the other end. You can then use a regular floor jack on the puck.

Of course you are still using the hole in the car, so you can still get flex if you don't slide it all of the way in.

My rocker covers are bent in around the hole on both sides in a manner that is definitely factory, but I'm sure you may have bent yours.

Sonic,

You may want to also check the condition of the jack receiver. That's the square hole that both the Jack pad and the OEM jack slide into. The rocker panel should never have been touch by the OEM jack. The jack receiver is a point of weakness and sometimes breaks loose behind the rocker panel. If that's the case it's not gonna matter what you put in there it's going to bend upwards and dent the rocker panel or worse the door panel.

Interesting. I noticed the Pelican Picture of the jack pad has a hole in it. Mine don't and the other day I couldn't get it out! My drivers side jack receiver seems a smidgen smaller than the passenger side, so the pad gets stuck. I had to use a pair of vice grips and hit them with a mallet. I'll drill a hole like that one. Good idea

Paul Wilding, who makes a lot of customized Porsche tools, also has a special jack pad. It's a little different than the normal paddle-style. For some reason, it doesn't fit the hole on my car, but I've seen it used on plenty of other cars in this area.

The biggest problem is not with the jack but with how far it is placed. The same problem can happen with the jack pad if it is not placed completely in the reciever. The top of the receiver will become bent and it will bend upward until it bends the rocker. If your concerned at all about these better yet to forget that point of the car as a jacking point and use others descriped in prior posts.

Sonic, the dent sounds like it's in your rocker panel. No catastrophe, you can remove the rocker and probably beat it out from behind. If you're uncomfortable with doing that, try going to a Dent Wizard or a reasonable facsimile.

Sonic, I'm trying to be comfortable with my cars imperfections. Besides, you can't see it from here:
