High Beams MIA

The high beams on my 69 911T have taken a sudden vacation. The low beams work just fine, but no high beams, high beam indicator, or headlight flash. There is no current at the high beam fuses. I can't seem to locate a 69 wiring diagram, but the 71 wiring diagram here at Pelican seems to show a headlight relay.

I've read the various threads about this problem, so the turn signal/high beam-low beam switch is definitely a suspect. However, before dissecting said switch, I'd like to check out the relay, and clean the various contacts. My question in a nutshell...where the hell is it located?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

The relay (s) can be found in the front trunk, left hand side.

Relays do not run the headlights, and that's the problem. My guess is the switch. Checking the current diagram, see if the juice to the fuse comes from the stalk switch. If it does, then see what wire feeds the juice to the stalk switch. If it's getting juice but not passing it on to the fuse, then you have your answer.

"Juice" is a technical term for electricity, generally used only by highly trained electro-technicians, like myself of course.

Dave,

All early cars ... from day 1 thru '77 models had a relay ... yours should be near the fuse block [and left battery] up front in trunk area.

The following diagram is not your year, but the color code and wiring should be the same:

Thanks Les, Superman, Joe & Warren, for the help.

My cynicism wouldn't let me believe that the relay by the fuse blocks would be the one. I figured it was probably somewhere that involved contortionism and band-aids. I'll check that tomorrow, and if not, off to the switch.

BTW, if the relay is bad, what's the proper replacement? I see 2 relays advertised at most parts sources, neither of which mentions headlights as a function.

Thanks again,
Dave
