Pre '82 VIN - where can I get a report?
 

I'm looking at several 911's of pre-1982 vintage. Prior to '82, Porsche used a 9 digit VIN scheme. Neither Carfax or AutoCheck are equipped to provide any information for VIN's with less than 17 digits. How do I check out a pre-'82 car?

You can try Porsche of north american, although they are
limited in what they have 1-800-porsche. They can tell you
if it is a Euro car or not. I have a Porsche restoration manuel
that breaks the chassis numbers. If you want I can look it up for you.
