Carrera Style Oil Cooler Diagram
Hi Everyone,
Does anyone have an exploded view of the Carrera oil cooler as installed? I need to figure out where all the various cooler mounting brackets go. Any help would be appreciated. Troy

Can someone at least explain where the cooler brackets go?
Thanks. Troy

One bracket goes on the back of the headlight bucket. Which one depends on whither or not you have a bracket back there already. If you do, drill a hole in the bracket and mount the cooler bracket w/ the hole and stud on it. If you do not have a bracket then the other cooler bracket (looks like a Z) can be welded on or dilled and bolted on.
The large bottom bracket is welded to the chassis. After the upper bracket is on, bolt the cooler to it and bolt the bottom bracket to the cooler. Then you can mark where the lower bracket needs to be and weld it on. Let me know if you need more info. Good Luck!

Thanks Ryan. This does help me a bit. I am surprized how the procedures in general gloss over the details of mounting this thing. A procedure that references part number with location on the car and means of fastening the bracket, etc. would really help!
Thanks again, Troy

I agree. In the last 2 months I’ve installed Carrera coolers in both front fenders of my car and one in the front right of my dad’s car. I couldn’t believe that with all the write-ups on it I couldn’t find anything on the brackets.
The biggest problem I had was figuring why I had three brackets and nobody I talked to was really sure either. It made perfect sense when I realized that you use one or the other upper brackets depending on what you have on your car. I just bolted the upper bracket on the headlight bucket. I didn’t think that I could do a very good job of welding it up there.

Silveresrty911S,
Thanks for the photo. I too have no external oil cooler and have just recieved the kit from Elephant Racing. No directions on the install though. Thanks for the photos. I really just need to know how to mount the radiator in the front. THis is the thing that is least clear to me. Troy

Troy,
Do you understand where everything needs to go now? Which rock guard kit & fan kit did you get if any, OEM or after market?

Sorry Troy,
I didn't read your post very well, Carrera cooler.... Daaaaaaah My pics were the early cooler (28 row) and not the radiator style with the fan mounted on the cooler. My suggestion is get Wayne's 101 projects book or look through the tech section of this site and you'll get the basic configuration of how it's going to mount up in your car. I have more pics if needed for the mounting bracket I made for the cooler and the way I bent the existing horn brackets to relocate more forward in the lower valance area. Leme know ![]() Rick

Hi Rick,
I have Wayne's book but the photos and detail of mounting the cooler are poor. Please send me photos of how you remounted the horns. I have ideas but would like to see how you did it. Thanks, Troy
