?blowing out fuel lines?
The tank is out, the fuel filter is off, What is the best way to blow out or otherwise clean the fuel lines? Should I just blow compressed air through the main line that comes from the fuel tank with compressed air? Maybe try and run some cleaner through it and blow it out? Is there any downside? will it do any good?

Lacquer thinner is more or less compatible with gas and it disolves varnish. I have an air nozzzle with a hose fitting tapped into the air passage. It draws solvent from a can and blows air and solvent through the rubber tip. I press it into any hole and blow it clean. It's like any solvent gun but it has the tip for a good seal.

Ok... That is brilliant! Tell me if this makes sense... My thoughts are that the worst of my problems are or were from the gas tank to the fuel filter. If I pull the fuel filter and blow the main line that leads from tank to motor, I have to disconnect the pump so I don't blow anything back into it. Is there any safe way to clean out the pump itself? It must be full of sediment and varnish. Or is it something a wise man would just replace? How long do they usually last?
Thank you for that little tip Milt...

gotta make sure that you have the pump primed before restarting.. I wouldn't worry about disassembly of the pump.. maybe flush some fuel thru it while dumping the fuel upside down.. the pump should be good for 75k miles.. then it has one foot on a banana peel and the other foot in the grave IMO.. not a pro
