electical question

My 77 911s headlights go on when I activate the left turn signal with the ignition off. The right side just activate the parking lights only. Has anyone had this problem and what is the cause and fix? Thanks for any suggestions.

You've got a crossed wire somewhere, either the headlight switch or the fuse box. Get ahold of a wiring diagram for your car and start verifying all the connections. Do your left side parking lights come on along with the headlights with the ignition off and the turn signal switch activated? BTW, in case you didn't know, your right side is functioning normally. It's used in Europe when you park on the street. That way, you can activate just the side that faces the street and not have all the parking lights running down your battery.

Check ground on left turn signal and parking light
Easiest way is to ground it and see if you fault dissapears.

Is your car a euro car? If so it may be the "city"light feature for parking on the streets in some european countries.

Thanks for the tips. To david914- I was pretty sure that the Euro feature was standard on all Pcars. To jeff--- That was my thought also. I printed the wire-d from PParts and am checking that tomorrow. The car is all CA. from first purchase so it never could have had anything other than DOT specs. Thanks again to all who put in thier 2 cents and I'll post the final fix---bob911s
