Valve stems

Anyone know who stocks the larger valve stems for deep face Fuchs? These are the 'with inner tube' type rims which many of us now use without tubes.

All help and pointers gratefully received.

I've been dealing with the valve-stem question recently, because at the last track event I drove--just a DE, but at Watkins Glen, a fast track--the front wheels got hot enough from the brakes that the sticky tape holding in place the little tabs that hold the rubber valve stems against centrifugal pressure melted and the tabs slid out of position enough to be useless.

I asked my friend Steve Weiner whether these valve-stem tabs are just cosmetic go-fast items or are useful. He assured me that they are indeed useful and necessary, if you're going to be doing 140+ speeds, and that Porsche developed them for the original Turbo.

But more to the point is the fact that nobody who plans to go fast should be using rubber passenger-car valve stems in any case. I plan to replace my rubber valve stems with chrome-steel stems intended for racecar use...if that's of any interest to you.

Valve stems are the leading cause of tire deflation. I would strongly suggest metal valve stems as Steve suggested as well as good quality metal valve caps.

To add to what JP said, look for metal motorcycle valve stems, the are very short.

I've been using the motorbike ones for the last 9 years. they are great. There're only about 15 or 20mm long and are too short to be able to flex.

It's pretty easy actually, just come out of Sunset bend at Sebring at full chat and by turn 1 you'll be pretty close!!

JE 9.5:1 85 mm pistons and GE-60/'S' cams will get you to 140 mph pretty easy!!!
