Rolex

Is it me or does this new Rolex Sports Car Series really suck. Im surprised to see Brumos stoop so low.

This is the first season of (Rolex) Daytona Prototypes.
Too early to tell how good the racing will be. Supposedly, it's a cheaper form of competition (compared to ALMS). If that encourages full grids and close racing, I'm all for it. The Porsche-powered Brumos FabCars have done quite well overall this year.

There's 2 schools of thought: one is embodied in the Rolex Series which is - to me - the NASCARization of sports car racing (i.e. 'spec' rules to artificially keep the racing close and costs low). The other is ALMS which is more of a traditional sports car series and allows for some innovative design at the expense of high costs and potential domination by one marque (i.e. Audi R8). Which is the right direction? Who knows, but I prefer ALMS.

I do too, Curt, but ALMS grids are getting smaller year by year. This worries me, as I enjoy the sport as a spectator.

'NASCARization'? I hope not, but if it becomes that, I will always remember you coined the term!

Doug, as long as we don't see anybody with "Brumos" shaved into their back, we're probably still safe .......
