I must have been insane!

This is the first time that I have actually sat down and taken toll on all the play cars over the years. I have had a great time but it sure would be nice to have some of that money back in my pocket.

1979 BMW M1
1980 Mazda RX7/IC/Turbo
1980 RUF Porsche 911 SC turbo
1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi
1982 Lamborghini LP400 S Countach
1982 Chev Z28 Camero
1984 Ferrari 308 GTS QV
1984 Pontiac Fiero V8 Conversion
1982 Datsun 280ZX Anniversary
1989 Ford Taurus SHO/100 shot nitrous
1992 Dodge Viper RT/10
1990 Ferrari Testorossa
1993 Dodge Viper RT/10
1998 Pontiac Trans Am
1999 Chevy Camaro SS
1999 Chevy Corvette Coupe
1999 Chevy Corvette Convertible
2001 Chevy Corvette Convertible
1987 Porsche 911 Carrera

Been around the block a few times..37 cars including my daily drivers and excluding my wife's cars. Came in for landing with Porsche. I guess thats not too bad! I have been a licensed driver for 35 yrs.

69 Mustang
79 Firebird
79 924
73 1602
85 Mustang GT
86 300ZX
86 Toyota PU 4X4 ( not a sports car, but alot of fun.)
96 Mustang
03 Altima 3.5SE

Besides my present car the BMW was by far the funnest to drive. I don't know why I've owned so many Mustangs, because I really don't care much for them.

72 Datsun 510 tripple s motor-built to the tilt rocket machine. I loved that car. 72 Ford Capri built to the tilt as well-close to 300 hp v6. That car smoke a lot of v8's in it's days of glory. 72 914 which was one of the best handling cars I have ever driven. 72 911. 72 was a great year for cars in my mind

'58 MGA maybe the best looking of the bunch. Stranded me in the middle of the okefenokee at 3:00 in the morning. Broken accelertor cable. Discovered that you can do about 30MPH on the choke.
'66 BMW 2000 a great sedan
'66 Lotus Cortina the 1st true sports sedan
'67 Alfa 1300 GT Junior a really neat car with a jewell of an engine
'69 911E kept "Portia" for 20 years, still regret letting her go.
'69 2002 the 2d true sports sedan (1600ti/1800ti not withstanding)
'72 320is an under rated car
'79 325is the E30's are the last great BMW's (even if it won't start)
'87 Carrera Targa
'99 Lexus LX470 Should be a collectible someday. It is an awesome 4WD that we use in the pasture and for hauling livestock in the back (alpacas)

60 Sunbeam Alpine (paid $350 and got it running a handful of times)
72 Buick Skylark ragtop (wore it out in HS)
85 BMW 635CSi (not really a sports car but it was fast)
87 325i (not really a sports car, but fun)
89 Carrera (presently in limbo)

Wow, I realize that with the exception of the Alpine when I was 16, the 911 is my first, so it really is my first. I've been into motorcycles, but now have children.

Hmm.... I've had a few myself for only being 26. In rough order of appearance:

'56 Chevy 210 sedan - bought with lawn mowing money at 11 years old, never got it running, sold at 14
'54 Ford Customline sedan - bought with proceeds from above, quasi-restored with dad, 1st car at 16
'89 Chevy Beretta GT - sorta-sporty, kinda-quick, shoddy GM quality
'70 MGB-GT - finally, a proper sports car. Shame it only ran every other Tuesday
'96 VW Jetta GLX VR6 - my first and probably only new car - quick and fun to drive, but it was falling apart at 50k miles
'70 914 - Fly yellow playtoy in college that I couldn't afford, but what a fun car! Sold my girlfriend's (now my wife) POS Geo Storm to buy it!
'96 Mazda Miata - I wish I hadn't sold it - rock-solid reliable and a ball to drive
'82 Mercedes-Benz 300D - current daily driver and absolute tank
'84 BMW 318i - bought running from a kid for $150 and sold on ebay for $800
'87 Dodge Raider - bought from similar kid for $125 with a blown motor, sold stereo for $150 and truck for $750. Do you see a trend emerging?
'94 Eagle Talon ES - bought with blown motor and sold with blown motor
'89 Toyota Celica GT - bought running and with cold a/c for $75(!) last year, played with it for a while and sold it on
'88 Acura Integra - bought at police auction, got running and sold
'50 Chevrolet 3800 1-ton pickup - very cool original old truck. Wife absolutely hated it, forced to sell a couple of months ago. Now I have the old truck bug in a major way!
'83 911SC Coupe - current toy and by far the most fun!

Various wifey mobiles--Dodge Neon, Ford Explorer, Ford Expedition, Lexus LS400

Cheers,

Brad
