Need early throttle linkage assistance
What is the purpose of the bonded rubber link at the firewall? (PN 901 423 137 00) Mine broke and it looks like something that would be prone to that sort of thing. Also, my linkage seems to be long overall as in I could eliminate the link and be in the money. ('71 S w/ MFI) Any help? TIA

Milt, when that part gave it up on my car, I just used a threaded coupler to replace it....dont remember where I got the coupler though..so eliminating the rubber type link should not be a problem

Thought of that. You would almost have to tap out a special one. I don't see finding a part like that on the shelf. If nothing else, I'll go that route.

The rubber joint is there simply to reduce noice/vibration from transmitting to the driver.
There is an updated coupler that had a metal jacket, so that it still does it's job, but if the rubber fails, the jacket will catch and allow you to still operate the throttle. I'm sure Pelican has it.

Much obliged, gentlemen. Pricey little sucker isn't it?
Anyone had a little too much rod to get things hooked up nice and tight? (Easy now). Seems like I have more than I need and I could do w/o the coupler. Most of the adjustment is already taken up. |
