Turbo badging on NA widebody?

Hi fellas, I recently bought a '85 911/930 factory widebody. I love the car, I did'nt want the the turbo for two reasons, upkeep (read expense) and well to be honest I can't drive anyother way but full throttle 99% of the time. Anyway the question is, the car is 100% original, but it has Turbo badging on the rear deck lid not Carrera. I must say that I feel somewhat ricey not having what it says is inside. Does anyone know if the Turbo badging came as part of the option or did the PO decide to add it to the car. I feel that Carrera would be better, but I do want to keep it as it came from the factory.

Thanks

Definitely didnt leave the factory with a turbo badge.
Maybe just take the badge off and leave it blank?

If it's not a Turbo, It's not a Turbo.

The coolest thing you can do is take a hairdryer and heat the Turbo badge enough to soften the adhesive and peel it off...and then leave the space blank. You can't imagine how much better it looks. The lids on both our SC and Boxster are blank, and it's very stylish. Everybody in Europe does it. Okay, not everybody but a lot of people--both those with V12s in their S-class and they want the Greens to think it's just a 320 and the S320 drivers who want to pretend it just might be a 600.

I am going to have to agree, no turbo = no badge that says you have one. I would also put the Carrera badge back on it since that is what you have, a Carrera with a Turbo look option. But that is just my 2 pennies worth.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!

I'd say take off the badge and leave it clean. It would look best with nothing back there, I am thinking about taking the "turbo" off my 930.

Plus, the next time that you give it full throttle next to a WRX, he will be all over the ricer boards with the story of how he pimp-slapped a 930. Not good for the image problem that we're already having being slower than cheap Japanese cars, knowhatI'msayin'?

My '73 has no badging at all. No crest on the hood, no lettering on the deck lid, no "3.2" on the grille, no stickers. Very clean look. I don't have to tell people it's a Porsche. If they don't know, they don't care, and neither do I. Go for the clean look.

OK.....got the message! Please remember that that's the way I got the car. The last thing I want to do/be is rice. As soon as the wife comes home I'll get her hairdryer and do the badge ectomy. Thanks for all your opinions!

What a great world it would be if we could actually drive full out 99% of the time. The only problem is where would everyone else have to move to give us the room? Dump the silly faux badge

A little floss and the Turbo badge came right off! The PO must have put it on the lid to hide a small ding. Looks real good with no badge, although I'm inclined to replace it with a Carrera badge. Thanks for everyone's input, this is a great board!

Thanks, Mike

Great! If you are so inclined, you might want to seek out a Dent Wizard in you area and have the ding removed. FWIW, I'd go badge-less...
