After market front spoiler-feels nice at speed.
At the risk of "bastardizing" the black beast, I replaced the valance/chin spoiler with GT Racing's 935 (replica) under bumper spoiler. Fog lights replaced with brake duct intake scoops with mesh screen to stop major pebbeles from finding the rotors. It may be my imagination, but the first chance for a spirited freeway romp the car felt much more "planted" to the pavement than with the stock chin spoiler. Have standard Carrera rear wing. Can't wait for next DE at Sebring.

Ted,
That looks real nice on your car. Where did you find the spoiler? I'm looking for a similar style for my narrow body cab. Ron Fitz |

Mmmmm, nice! Of course, I have the same one
![]() How did you mount your brake ducts? Did you do a custom fab? I agree, with that valance and ducktail, my SC is totally planted.

I have a similar one also and like it. It does keep the car planted at higher speeds.

Ron,
Spoiler is from GT Racing in Colorado Springs. Part #48. 1-800-797-2911 www.gt-racing.com Our host may carry it ? Brad, Ribbed (2" ?) duct hose runs straight from the spoiler's intake scoops (extra) to hub intake still there from an earlier brake ducting kit. This route eliminated the 90 degree elbow in that kit. Ted in So. Fla 86 Carrera w/new face |

Thanks Ted! Where did you pick up the intake scoops? On the GT-Racing site I see part# 278....is that them?

I also have that front valence. I thought it was a 930S replica, not a 935 replica. Nevertheless, realize that you won't get the weight savings you would if you changed the entire front bumper.
btw, I have brand new GT Racing #279 air ducts that I ended up not using. I'll sell them for 1/2 price of new ones, if anyone is interested.

I've been looking at that spoiler in the GT Racing cat. for about a month now. The pic. in the cat was really small and the spoiler looks so much better on you car than the cat. So, what do you have fom a cooler and did the screen come w/ the spoiler. Will be installing a cooler/spoiler late fall or early spring and item #48 is top canidate for the spoiler. Also, glad to hear it plants the car to the road at higher speeds. |

Next Sebring DE is Sept 20th (Suncoast Region) and 21st (Gold Coast Region). Another great one is Homestead Oct. 11th (Gold Coast) ...awesome, fun track and facility. Part of the road course takes us up on the NASCAR grandstand banked straight before diving back down onto the infield road course....very cool. A good place to have the car "planted". SE Florida has a fantastic DE schedule in the next few months with PCA and other clubs.
Brad, the brake duct protective screen was put in by the shop, Composite Body Tech of Dania Beach, FL. It's a fairly fine SS screen. The Center opening is also screened with a diamond mesh. They did the paint work too. Your car looks gorgeous! I kept the original valence in case some future buyer want orginal look restored. Cheers Ted in SoFla 86 Carrera w/new face |

have any of you guys mounted that valence without any sort of rear tail inplace? i want a new valence but dont want to have to add a rear wing to stabilize the car. anything out there that does not replicate a chin spoiler and the need for trunk jewelery?

Great looking cars, Ted and Brad. I am also wondering the same thing as k911sc. Do I need a tail if I have a pront spoiler?

You can fine a number of threads on this board re. front spoilers and rear wings. Bottom line is rear wing without front spoiler is a No-No....don't do it. Front spoiler without a rear wing is OK for street, highway & autocross but less than ideal for track use. Working together, the car is better balanced. At Sebring, for example, Turn 1 is nearly a 100 mph corner...I'm happy to have the rear wing helping to glue down the back half. Also a noticeable difference when passing through the "bow wave" turbulance of an 18 wheeler or during a strong cross wind.

Mike, those are actually the Carrera fogs, so you are in good shape. I had to fab a bracket cuz the little fiberglass *shelf* the fogs sit on was not deep enough. In case anyone is interested, I got mine from BetterBodies Motorsports.

Anyone drilled about 15 holes in front valence for the rubber chin lip spoiler with valence attached? Or is that as bad an idea as I think it might be?

Brad -
doing a search, I saw your other posting on the cooler install for the front spoiler. You went with Setrab, as I recall, but do you have a part number? Convinced myself that I going to steal your whole front end! How's that saying go about imitation? On connected the oil lines, presume you simply disconnected the trombone and attached the new lines from inside the left wheel well? How'd you bring them around to the front? Lastly did you remove the old valance? Again, presume this is only way to install the new frong spoiler. Many thanks Joe
