How do you test the MSD 6al and the Blaster 2 coil?
I pulled the plugs to run a compression check. So I had to remove the coil wire from the distributor for the test. I also added a new set of magnecor wire sets . Well now it wont start at all. I dont think it's getting any spark to the distributor. Is there a way to test the blaster 2 coil and the msd 6al?
Did I screw something up on one of these componets buy cranking the engine over several times during the compresion testing . There was power going to the msd unit , but I did pull the green and purple wires going to the trigger as well as the coil wire? Help Rick

Make a jumper for the distrubutor connectors (short the pins) lay the end of the coil wire near (1/4") a good ground. Power up the MSD. Unjumper the connector and you should get a spark.

I don't know how you "test" 'em, but I do know that the first time I started my twin-plug '83 with the same setup (two of them), I disconnected the coil wires from the distributor and cranked it for a moment to make sure I still had initial oil pressure. A friend standing near the aft end said, "Whoa! You got sparks jumping like six inches from those wires, hold it!" He probably was exaggerating, but there was no doubt we had a huge arc.

Thanks
Dhoward , I tried your test and their was no spark. I could here something in the MSD ign box click each time I tried it. The ohm readings from the MSD Blaster 2 coil is as follows. Primary 1.0 ohms Secondary 4.70k ohms Is this correct for this type coil? Rick

Never Mind.
I had a bad connection from the orange wire to the + side of coil. Fixed it and on my way. Thanks Rick
