roadside assistance

Im gonna be driving more and want to get some sort of towing coverage in the rare case of a breakdown. Can anyone recommend a good roadside assistance program that I should look into?

I checked out AAA CA, but its not all that great really.

If you don't like AAA, you won't be happy with anything else. Get a NEW CADDY with ON STAR!!! ;-)))
Seriously, since leaving CA, we have learned really appreciate the service(s) of the CA AAA, but even in Texas they are better represented than any of the private clubs, I think.. YMMV, of course...

I think AAA has an upgraded program. Last time I looked at it, it looked OK. Your auto carrier probably has an optional coverage to cover towing, but usually it's limited to about $50. Ask me how I know.

Sonic db-

I just used my CSAAA membership for towing and they were great! They gave a time limit on the tow truck and he beat it. By the way, the regular service is for 4 tows a year up to 5 miles. I would get the extended service that gives you towing up to 75 miles!!! Just a very satisfied customer!!

I was on my way to BBRIII when my alernator failed. Cost me $200 to have the car flatbedded home. I was speaking my Allstate agent recently about coverage, and asked him if this would be reimbursable under the towing coverage. He said it would be reimbursable up to $50 and, he said, it doesn't count as a "claim" against the policy such that my premiums would go up.

Scott...yes, I have this similar basic towing for $50 on my car insurance with Kemper....however, Id like better and to be able to get immediate assisitance by calling a phone number.

CK... I just signed up for AAA CA online...but they didnt offer the "extended service" there, only the basic which costs $44 + $20 new member fee. How do you get the extended service, how much does it cost?
