Help before I cry :P
Can't get the alternator out of the fan.
I got the alternator bolt as far as flush, but now it won't go any further! I've read all the techarticles and I just can't figure it out! :( Any advice (other than throwing things around and praying to the Porsche Gods and/or Deamons, i've tried both these to no avail) Does it make sense that the alternator bolt may have 'mushroomed'? I had this trouble too. Put the alternator pulley side down so the shaft is on something soft like a block of wood. Patiently, and carefully tap around the back edge of the fan with a rubber mallet to get it to unseat (or hammer and another block of wood). You want to be careful not to damage the bearings. I took a chance, but if you want to completely minimize teh risk of damaging the bearings, you'll need to get an appropriate sized puller. Good luck!

Good advice from Jay. That's what I did when I took my alternator out and it worked great.

Somewhere there is a post from John Walker about banging a certain edge and it pops out. JG |

I just did an alternator R & R, and I can't picture what you're talking about. Can you post a digital picture?
