Made a nice discovery today, but have a question
I opened up the right rear torsion bar cover today on my '75. I was planning on putting in some SC torsion bars that I have in my garage. I only have partial records on this car, but it was owned by a guy named Dave B at TRE about a decade ago from the looks of some receipts.
Anyway, I found really new-looking 26mm bars back there! It was a nice discovery, and I don't think the PO even know about them. The questions: The right-hand bar has what appears to be a VW logo on it, and there is the letter "L" engraved in it. I wasn't aware that torsion bars were different from right to left. Does anyone know if this "L" marking means anything, and what's with the logo? Edit - going through the receipts, I see I made a mistake on the previous owner. It is/was Eric at TRE, not Dave. Sorry Dave. ![]() ![]()

Right and left bars are different. Don't know anything about the "VW" appearing logo.

I would say contact Dave at TRE and ask him if he remembers the car... he's a frequent and knowledgeable poster.
