Retractable spoiler problems

Hello from the flatlands.
I have an 89 C4 that has intermittent erratic function of the retractable spoiler. Frequently it deploys as soon as you start the car, while still idling, at times it does not fully retract when you come to a stop, at times it does not deploy despite being at or above the usual required speed. At times it works just fine. It seems to be a sensor, relay or electronic thing as the mechanical setup seems fine (well lubed gears, adequate motor function, etc).
The car otherwise is fine, it had the famous erratic idle, well described in this forum, which was fixed by replacing the idle control valve. I replaced the DME relay as well.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Fargo

Might be the Fargo factor. Every time I go over Fargo, I get a "Spoiler Unlock" light on the MD87.

Just kidding.... I WISH I had an 89 C4.

It's obvious that your car takes tempurature and humidity levels into account, along with compass headings, wind speed and direction, yaw sensors and wheel speed sensors and OBD readings and uses a complicated set of algorithms to determine the appropriate settings for the rear spoiler for any set of circumstances.
