Poll...new speedo or bad idea?

I rescently finished the makeover on my 82 SC. The car was completly striped, dents fixed, painted Gaurds red, interior redone, rebuilt motor with all kinds of mods, and new...well...just about everything. The car currently has a working speedo but the OD doesn't work. I guestimate from record searching that the car has about 88k miles on it but could be more. Since i have done all this work, and the milage is unclear, i wanted to give this ride a fresh start...i want to start her back at zero. I intend to reveal everything to any potential buyer should i ever sell but wonder if this is all around a bad idea?

As long was you make it known the original mileage, reset it or buy a new one. When I fixed my old speedo, I reset the numbers to 0. Recording maintenance mileage/dates was much easier.

Note, however, that I finally broke the speedo when monkeying around with white faces. I chucked the speedo as I found a c2 sprayed-white complete set.

I didn't reset the odo for historical reasons.. but your history is broken. Gauge millage is meaningless on a restored car anyway.

I think you're free to do anything you want since you don't actually know how many miles the car has on it anyway. It doesn't really matter at this point.
