Grille Badges are ready... and shipping! (finally)

Edit: (3/14/03)

The first batch of badges (all paypal requests) just got dropped off at UPS this morning! Those who have emailed me privately at Grillebadges@worldnet.att.net, check your email.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Pelicanheads,

First, thanks for the interest in the grille badges. Good news: They’re done, assembled, and ready to ship! I apologize for the delay, but for the last week and a half I’ve been going through computer nightmares and, after buying a new system, I’m back online and ready to go.

One thing I should make clear before shipping any badges is that these were designed to fit the standard, non-spoiler grilles, used on cars from’65-‘89. Ducktail style deck lids use the standard grill so fit is not a problem here. Those with Turbo, Carrera, 964/993 or aftermarket tails or spoilers may have fitment issues; some drilling may be required. Attached (hopefully) is a CAD/gif image of the mounting system. I decided to use studs with fender washers and nuts to provide a more secure, theft-resistant mounting. The use of studs necessitated that I add small 1/8 bosses on the backside of the badge to provide enough threads for the studs to securely fasten. These bosses present no issues with the standard style grilles, but those with different style grills may have to do a little fiddling to get things to work. I apologize for this design issue, but I never anticipated these going on any other style tail; I was (mistakenly) thinking that the primary interest would come from early car, R-Gruppe type folks who had installed a little more motor in their cars than originally came from the factory.

I’ve signed up for a Paypal account to handle funds. I’ve never used this service before, but it looks like all you need is my email address to access the account, which is Grillebadges@worldnet.att.net. Please include in the notes section the type and quantity of badges you would like as well as a shipping address. It probably would help if you would also respond directly to me at Grillebadges@worldnet.att.net so I can keep my records straight and email you the date the badges ship.

I’ll also accept cashiers checks, which can be mailed directly to me along with a note stating type and quantity of badges, as well as a shipping address.

I’m sorry, but I’ll need to charge a flat rate of $5 shipping (quantities up to 5) to any address in the US. International orders will be handled individually, as shipping will be more expensive.

Prices are:
3.0, 3.2, and 3.6 Badges: $30 each plus shipping
“Custom” Badges (2.5, 2.8, 3.4 etc.): $40 each plus shipping

Email me privately for a mailing address for cashiers checks.

Those who have emailed me privately, check your email. Those who have PMed me, I'm still compiling your info into a database.

Priority goes to those who have contacted me personally (either email or PM), and those who have responded directly to my first few posts. Depending on response, more could be on the way.

These have been a long time in coming, and maybe a bit more work than I anticipated, but hopefully I was able to help some fellow Porsche nuts make their cars a bit more unique. I look forward to meeting any and all of you soon.

Thanks,
Jim Hollinger

(sorry for the crappy pic, I lost all my "good" pics when my old computer died!)

I'm giving this a bump in case others, like me, didn't see it the first time.

Jim,
Saw you badge [3.2] on Marc's car last weekend - outstanding work! The badge looks perfect, and as if it should have been there from the factory. Congrats!
Need a 3.6 so I can use one.......

Thanks Steve.

Has anyone put on on the grill on their spoiler? Mines the typical (not turbo) Carrera tail.

Thanks Bill, but I have the rear deck spoiler and wondering if there would be a way to attached it and how it would look.

Nice looking car!
