Importing 81 SC from US to Ontario Canada
Anyone with recent experience importing a similar year car to Ontario Canada and getting it all compliant for licensing? The importing part was easy now I am trying to figure out what needs to get completed so that it will pass "safety" and can get licensed. I know there are a number of things that the car is exempt because it is over 15 years old...such as daytime running lights, child restraint.....etc .
What else should I expect...that needs to be completed in order for it to get licensed? |

Are you a permanent resident importing the car or a temporary resident? I did the exact car as a temporary resident about three years ago and simply kept the U.S. tags. All perfectly legal as long as you never sell the car within Canada.
If you are a permanent resident, you need to get get it thru safety etc. You will be exempt from almost everything. You will need to make sure that any emissions equipment that it had in '80 it still has. I have forgotten all the important particulars, but your local Porsche shop can help. Also each of the immigration offices will have the info as does the website. I'll see if I can find the address. Good Luck
