Performance Part Sale is a joke.
Have you gotten an e-mail from Performance Parts saying buy 3 Mahle oil filters and get the 4th one free. Sounds good but you are still paying $11.21 per filter. Even the Porsche Dealer here sells them for $10.00 per filter, every day. Pelican Parts sells them for $8.85.
Do they jack up the price then have a sale? |

sounds like the super market routine for a sale a few days after welfare checks arrived.. then raising prices a few days before the checks arrive.. |
Prior to new ownership a few months ago you could catch a 20% off sale and actually save some money on some of their items. Not all. Some were the same price as Pelicans every day price using their 20% coupon.
I just read the filter promotion e-mail. They will be very disappointed with the results of this marketing campaign. |
As a matter of daily routine, I avoid Perf. Products at all costs. Have only purchased from them in the past as a "last resort - desperation move"
Too many other vendors out there to put up with them. |
But their catalog makes good bathroom reading material!
|
That's insanely high, especially since i got my filters for the 11 off of ebay, 6 for 22.00 + shipping :D
|
$3.66 per filter is a very good price. Are they Mahle filters?
|
Their catalogue is in my bathroom. That way I can see pictures of the items I will buy from Pelican.
|
i enjoy the catalog, like most fiction its all pretend. i pretend they are kidding when i look at the prices.
think they're bad? look at the tweeks, you pay out the ace for that nice catalog. the tweeks is better for bathroom fotter, the pages are more water resistent. |
I would sleep with Mussolini before buying from Performance....
|
I saw a Toyota pickup on 38" tires and a rebel flag in the back window sporting a Performance Parts bumper sticker. I had to look twice and then I laughed.

I got an e-mail from them and deleted it without reading it.

Yes, Mahle. It seems the same gentleman was selling a lot of different mahle oil filters at the time on ebay, because my father got six for about the same price for his 951 off the same seller. I haven't checked if they still get sold on ebay yet because we haven't needed more filters yet.
|
I stopped buying from them when I last purchased my Dansk stainless (2 into1) muffler from them. The first stainless muffler arrived, the wrong model for my year, shipped directly to the shop, had it installed was too narrow (earlier year), return shipped, then came the correct one, arrived damaged (round tailpipe ended up flattened), returned shipped. Finally the correct one arrived, almost perfect, made perfect with some stainless polish.

Wayne should remove this post. Why bashing other supplier?
|
I know a couple of people that work at Performance and I don't have a problem with any of them. The catalogue is great for Porsche products and I buy from them as well as from Pelican. It's all good! :D
|
I was not trying to bash Performance. I really was trying to warn the people who received the sale fax that its not really a sale in the good old American fashion.
|
"bashing"? People are complaining about a precieved lack of value for money. And some are replying that the value is OK. Why should the post be removed? Should Wayne only permit people to attack his own parts business (see the othr thd on that)?
I find Perf. to be pretty poor, BTW. OTOH, the catalog is a resource, just as this BBS is. Both entitites are paying for it out of their profits. I'd guess the catalog is more expensive to print & distribute than the BBS. But PP's prices are quite stratospheric. Automotion had a better catalog, and tho the prices were high, they weren't this bad. But they did not continue, so maybe the buyout tells us something about the economics of it all. |
