Oil temp sender question
My oil temperature gauge quit the other day, and I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot. I believe the gauge is receiving power because with the ignition on it does come up a little bit, but never to the first white band. The connections are good on the sender itself, also. The part number on it is 91160611200. The sender is only $25, but I would like to find out for sure if that is the problem.
TIA, Brian |

Brian,
You can test the gauge itself for proper function by substituting a 2000 Ohm potentiometer for the sensor. Gound one end and connect the wiper to the sensor wire ... sweep the potentiometer full range, and the gauge should also sweep full scale.
