But there is a problem. If the limit is 65 and they are doing 65 then by definition all other traffic should be equal to or less then the speed at which they are traveling. So, expecting that person to get in the slow lane(s) is in effect saying move over for the law breaker.

BTW, if you are having problems with the 65 example, rewrite the above with a speed limit of 95mph. The situation remains the same.

So if this is in fact true........ my question is, just how much longer are the V1's & Passport's going to be of any effect? specifically because the LASER warning on present day "top of the line" units only have the ability to detect the "instant-on" of the LASER, which for alot of users only notifies that you've just got a ticket.

your prob right, i have one i got in CA.

i am afraid that exceeding the speed limit will automatically be recorded by your car mounted gps system very soon. the insurance companies are going to insist, of course if you wish to not have one on your car, then you can pay the risk insurance rate...
many of the car rental places already have this type of device so that if you drive with excessive speed you can loose your rental privileges and be fined...(ny, ct, or mass last year i believe)
soon all cars will have that with gps and you will automatically get ticketed...in fact if i were a policeperson i would worry about job security as this time consuming function will be reduced to a computer transaction. sorry there is no way to stop it...oh, if you are a congressman, you can still speed, no gps required.
you will also have a drink card, that will be swiped when you have a drink,,,if you exceed so many drinks per hour.. your rental car wil be disabled (onstar). which is a good thing

The law (in Georgia - and probably in your state too) says "slower traffic to the right" to avoid the types of incidents caused by "Speed Limit Enforcers" in the Left Lane. Your quote echoes the essence of the "Left Lane Enforcer" - ie - "It is my job to prevent you from breaking the speed limit. So I will break the law in the process by not moving over."

Actually, not that many years ago someone on the DC beltway was given a ticket for impeding traffic even though she was going the limit in the fast lane. The ticket was dismissed and the cop was given a tongue lashing by the judge. I see your point but it doesn't hold up in court.

It depends on which court. Traffic court judges have a lot of discretion to do what they want. And who is going to appeal a traffic court verdict?
I don't harrass left lane pokeys but I see it every day. Why not move over and let the faster person by? Some people just like to aggravate others. Another example: The people in the right lane of the Interstate who don't move over (when they easily could) to let in merging traffic. If people were just polite to their fellow drivers, the road would be a better place.

How about some hard info stories of ticket excitement, huh.

What I see is the higher the limit the more polite the driver is.. which relaxes all drivers/somewhat.. so, IMO, the best is 70-75 limit before tourist/student driving season.........Ron

In 'theory' over here the two right hand lanes of the motorways(highways) are over taking lanes.

So if you're not over taking you should move left.

Ok if every one obeys the 70mph rule then few people need to over take, right.

Wrong. A large number of people here regularly use speeds in excess of 70 mph.....usually 85-90mph.

As they are now ALL over taking ALL of the time there is a line of nose to tail fast moving traffic in the right hand lane....with lots of space in the other two lanes.

Why, because if you move over, the driver behind will accelerate into the space you have just left and chances are they would not let you back in when you wanted to move out again....

So what do people do , they sit in the outside lane regardless of space in the othe lanes, reducing a three lane raod to a one laner effectively.

The best solution, apart from better driver training which seem unlikely is to slow down and enjoy knowing somebody in that BMW 318 will get the ticket.

I recall one evening enjoying the clear roads on my way home, a 50 mile drive at the time thro' some great scenery. Eye on the mirror just in case..who's the guy following me? White car. roof something.. seems to be keeping a good distance.....ease off and the cruiser comes past, slows at my window and gives me the 'look' OK I've got the message.
I believe the only reason I didin't get a ticket is that I was able to slow down reasonably and quickly once I was on my tail, not not to below the speed limit or using the brakes, just moderated it enough for them to know I knew and that I had been caught..

That stretch of raod is great for speed, a long sweeping down hill visibility is good for miles, at least 6 miles of raod are visible with one one ramp..and that's where they came from.

This was beofre the Police routinely used radar and laser equipped patrol cars, so the individual officers' opinion was the one that counted. If he thought your speed was a rpoblem it was ticket time, if not then you were OK.

What chance of that now when so much money is involved?
