1887 miles on 83SC

Ebay listing ( 1887 original miles ) HOW!! I guess they just sat in the car for months at at time and wore the interior without driving it.

Maybe a changed out speedo; those seats have got more than 1800 on them I believe. Looks like a clean car though.

I'm with you, that interior, particularly the driver's seat, has seen some use.

Maybe driven 1,001,887 miles and they turned the odometer over. :-)

The seats on my 82 SC didn't look that bad until nearly 100K, but evrything else I can see on the car looks great. I wonder what carfax has to say.

That's amazing - even if the car was represented to them as having such little mileage there are so many things wrong that they should seriously question it. The front dash is severely warped, the seats on both sides have some wear (the driver's seat looks terrible), the engine certainly looks like it has sustained wear (at least cosmetically), the sun visors look like air bags, and why would someone bother to replace the stereo on a car that has seen 1800 miles in 20 years.

They said the 1887 was original miles so I guess that makes the other 100 k duplicate miles.

The sad thing is the starting bid was 12 k which is more than it is worth and now with the bidding its up to 13,500 or so.

The gauges look brand new unlike the rest of the car. I think they were switched

119,000 miles is believable.

What I cannot believe is that the dealer is too disinterested to look at the car and realize that it would be impossible to be in that shape at 2,000 miles. Which means that they are actively trying to fool someone.

Service ... Integrity ... Trust in deed

I still don't know how they got the '1887' mile odometer figure unless they: 1) Changed the speedo; 2) Ran it over 200k and back to 201887; or 3) Physically changed the odometer dial by hand.

Based on Carfax, the LOWEST it could have shown in April of 2002 was '18,903' (if is is a 5 digit odometer). Where could the '1,887' have come from? Even '18,870' is not feasible unless Carfax is wrong or there has been some roll-back. And I can't get the pic of the instruments to come up when I look at their auction.

Tom

EDIT: O.K., I got the photos to open off the auction and it is a 6 digit odometer. That speedometer/odometer must therefore have been replaced sometime after about 119k miles.

Interesting note: I sent an email to the dealer informing them of their oversight using the "Ask Seller a Question" link in the EBay ad. In the email popup, it shows the car as having 108,000 miles.

Well, they've posted a correction down near the bottom of the auction, now specifying that it has 108k miles on it. I guess that since April of 2002 it has been slowly dripping off 10k plus miles. And you thought oil leaks were bad.

I would hope that you wouldn't need a new AC compressor after that long. Anyone notice that the heater tube that runs over the fan has been beaten to hell.

These guys are retarded. Any dealer with half a brain would have caught that error, especially since they offer a free carfax off of the page.

What a laugh. The bury the "correction" way down at the bottom of the page and leave the top misleading (lying) text the same. These people should be strung by their genitals in the public square.
