Shell Rotella... Good?
Hello All,
Just found some Shell Rotella in my local Shell store. I've read a long time back that Rotella oil is good for 911s... True? Should I pour it in my baby? She's a 1967 911S. The oil is a straightweight 40 and I live in the tropics. Currently I have got Caltex Havoline Synthetic in her. Sprint. |
I use Rotella T 15-40 in my '78 SC. I don't know which weight you should use in your '67 (follow requirements in the manual). Shell Rotella is a high quality multi-purpose oil (meets both gas and diesel engine requirements) it should be fine for your car.

I used it until recently switching to Kendall GT 20w-50.
Rotella T is good oil. Never used anything else in my boat's CAT 3208 diesels. |
I use Rotella T and love it. My car does not burn much oil at all....almost imperceptible amount....and the car never leaked before (it just "sweated" a tiny bit of oil on the oil line connections). Since switching to Rotella T, there is no more sweating. I just drove 400+ miles on it last night and temp barely rose up to the middle mark.
Rotella T is good for classic Porsches. |

From what I read about Rotella, it seems to be made for diesels and this is the same oil taxis here use... So, can I use it on my 911? I'll try read the API label later and post it. Sprint. |
