Stereo draining battery need advice
I have had a reoccuring problem with an electrical short draining the battery on my 911. Using an ampmeter it appears the drain was coming from the CD player. With the ignition switch off this radio was drawing 310 millamps continious. I disconnected it and amp draw went down to 9.9 millamps(clock). I've installed a new CD player and tested standby amp draw again. It is now 145 milliamps. Is this too high or more sound more typical of a CD player? Will this drain the battery again? Thanks for all the previous help. Bill

Pretty easy fix ...
Step 1 - rip out stereo Step 2 - throw stereo in trash Step 3 - start up the Porsche-6 symphony while rowing thru the gears Side benefit ... the car is now lighter and therefore faster ![]()

he could do that but that but i would use a relay inline instead.
THEN this is the trick so he won't lose memory.......there are some small "battery backup" batteries used for security systems should the thief disconnect the battery, hook one up between the relay and the radio, memory saved. i can check monday where to get them. if you have amps you can do this by using a heavy duty cylinoid on the amp battery wire, don't need battery backup there.

35ma, or less, is what i always thought was tolerable. tell the radio guys about it. i've sent a lot of folks back to where they bought the radio items. usually they got a new unit.

And my wife was blaming me for leaving something on.
Is there a good battery disconnect that I can use for the SC? There aren't any decent radio stations in this town anyway.

I use a marine battery ground clamp with a wing nut to cable disconnect.. there are switches that mount on the battery.. I just don't like the idea of another switch in a critical place.......Ron
