911 T dash mystery ---
Hello again,
My 70 911T has a shot dash ( as described in earlier postings ). Most of the ugliness comes from a dent or slight buckling of the metal brace that runs the whole length of the very bottom of the dash. Because there is this mysterious upward dent right under the steering column, the right end of the dash doesn't line up properly with the start of the ashtray. My question to the group is this, 1) what ( if anything ) would make a dent like this under normal wear and use? 2)can this beam be replaced or is it integral to the frame ? As always, thank in advance Michael ![]() |

I just installed a new dash in my 69 911. Since the car has been converted to all 86 running gear the lower dash (behind the kneeboards) was cut to allow for the late model steering. In your car you may have bent kneeboard. Have you removed them? As for the support you mention I am not sure what you are takling about. When you remove those parts take some pics and post them for us to see. Good luck
James

Looks like someone's (PO?) knee either:
(1) rested there over the years. (2) hit it regularly (clutch?). (3) wacked it in an accident. The dent is probably just in the foam -pull the knee pad and check it out. You can replace it or maybe have it redone at a shop...
