Questions regarding 3.0 engine purchase.
 

What should I know before I purchase a 3.0 out of an 82 Targa? Would this be the same as an SC motor? It is out of the vehicle and is reported to have 82K on it.
It was replaced with a 3.2 because of an airbox backfire issue which has been fixed. I would probably put my webbers on it anyway. It's difficult to purchase an engine on one coast from the other. (I live in NH, the motor is in CA) I have requested leak down results. The price is 4K which seems reasonable. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

Yes, an '82 Targa is also an SC (see mine), so the engine is the same. They did not make different engines for coupes and targas. Besides compression you might have head studs checked (although compressin test will probably give you a hint)

4k seems a good price.
