5 Spd Mystery

Okay I will fess, I don't know jack but am in the painful process of learning. I bought a 901 5spd transmission to mate up w/ a yet to be found/ 2.7 or 3.0 motor, when I spin one axle shaft, the other one spins the other way, is that normal?

Dam, I was hoping it was the other way around and I scored a lsd model. You know the old adage, "God smiles upon drunks and dumbasses that buy old porsche parts on-line."
