Turbo conversion kits?
I've got a friend who just purchased an '82 SC. He is interested in converting the body to either look like a turbo, or better yet a late mode. He says that kits are made to do this. I'm not aware of any so I thought I'd see if anyone here knows of any such body kits.
Thanks, Eric |
There is much information on the board about this. Do a search under "body conversion," or "backdating," and inside the posted messages there should be some links to those who offer body kits.
Good luck. |
I think there are several places that offer 964 body kits, and there may be the same for widebody kits (probably), check the common f/g places, GT-Racing, etc.... I think one of Pelicans competitors has had a 964 kit advertised in the past, but I couldn't say now. I think the main components in the 964 kit are front and rear bumpers, lights for front bumper, and rocker covers. For a widebody kit of course there is new fenders, flares on the back and the front rear changes to blend with the new flares. I guess widebody 964 would combine the two.

I you got some extra coin laying around, I wouldn't mind knowing what kind of job these folks do.

82SC ($12,000) + $8000 = real '79 Turbo.
Real turbo = Priceless. Just my opinion, but a '79 Turbo is not out of reach if he was able to pay for an '82 SC. Plus you get the real turbo, real turbo suspension, and real turbo bodywork. EDIT: Just to explain where I'm coming from, given that I'm into engine transplant cars, I personally get a kick out of "sleepers" that have a bunch of horsepower but don't advertise it. It takes everyone by surprise, and is low profile. But the opposite (ie tacking a hot body kit onto a stock-engined car) just screams "all bark and no bite." Rarly's 12-second beast is obviously exempt from this, as it has the power to back up the screaming looks...:D Colin |
Yeah, I'm with CowTown.
Why not buy a real turbo or turbo look instead of riding around in some poseur kit car. |
He got into this one cheap - very cheap - and wants to have something that looks like a expensive on a budget.
