Steve W chip question
I have an 87 Targa and I want one of his chips, how do I know which pin count to order? 24 pin or 28 pin? Sorry to be so lazy as I guess I could open the ecu and count couldn't I?
Thanks in advance. Haz |
I'm pretty sure you have to break the thing open. I'm not aware of any "visible" signs that denote the difference in pin numbers. Could be wrong though!!! Good luck.
PS: just ordered mine, should be here Monday or Tuesday. |
Hi Haz,
My counterpart in Germany, a Motronics engineer for BMW is also having the same problems with his customers and the 87 Carreras in that he can't tell from any outside markings if it's a 24 or 28 pin box. But I guess I'm going to start taking my own survey. When and if ever you crack the thing open, could you tell me what the Bosch part numbers and the Porsche part numbers are on top of your box? Thanks! |
Steve - I've yet to open mine to install your chip (two sick kids the past week, yeah!) - I'll send you the part #'s and VIN - maybe you can tie it in that way.

Thanks Jeremy! Your data will certainly help.
