'67S and Carrera Front Suspenion and Steering... Interchangeable?

Hello All,

The subject says it all. I've got a '67S and I want to update the brakes and suspension. What's involved? Bolt on or welding involved?

Thanks and have a nice weekend!

Sprint.

If you have everything from the donor, it will swap right over. Some things will interchange and some won't, but if you have the whole shebang, no worries.

Hi Tyson,

I'm thinking of buying the complete suspension from a place like Parts Heaven. (I'd buy from Pelican Parts in a heartbeat if they got good used)

So what will I need? The struts, A-arms, torsion bars? I'm planning a turbo tie-rod upgrade too.

So the mounting points are the same for them 2 cars?

Sprint.

I can chime in as I transplanted a complete '76/'77 front end onto my '69 which is only different from your '67 by not much. Same mounting points and geometry. No welding.

The later suspension will have vented brake rotors and an aluminum crossmember for a little weight savings. '84-on front ends (Carrera) will also have thicker rotors as well. However, at this stage of it's life, you might also have to renew/replace bushings, shock inserts, tie rod ends, rotors, bearings and caliper piston seals. If you have a sway bar, you'll also have to install an early drop link mount on the control arm.

Front suspension

A front suspension from a 74 911 will bolt right up to your
car with no modifications. On my 66 912 I went with a 74
front end. I've got the Koni struts and S calipers. Although
any front end from I believe any 911 up to perhaps 79 or
later will bolt right up.
