Question Whats the big deal with your car?

You wash it and it's not even dirty.
You fix it when its not broke.
You spend hours thinkin about it.
You post pictures like it's a new baby.
You spend hours on pelican.
You plan vacations around events.
You spend money on it like it grow's on trees.
You only drive it on a sunny day.
You see one going down the road and you go ape.
They all look the same, WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL!

I guess you have to own one to know

It's a good hobby (or therapy?) That keeps us normal everyday lunatics on the streets. Why do you think we like twisted roads?

George,

What about the "sports fans" who travel around, following "their" team, spending tons of $ on tickets, clothes, etc...

Or the "dog or cat show freak" who spend all their $ to have someone else walk their animal in front of a judge just to get a ribbon?

Or the wine lover who spend $ on a bottle of wine that they'll never drink because someone else told them it was desireable?

I guess we all have our weakness and peculiarity. Mine just so happens to be my car, but at least I can take my family with me and we all enjoy the time we spend together with other "Porsche people" who share the same illness! What a great country!!

If I didn't have my P-CAR and BOAT, I woukd probably be doing the wine, woman, and song gig which my wife does not approve of.

Pure Joy...most of the time, and a sense of accomplishment after the short spells of "What the ****"!

k9handler,

I know what you mean! If we never had the "what the ****!" times, would we truly appreciate the good driving days?

WHY??

Because I always wanted a Porsche and never had one,
Because I have driven minivans and wagons and then a very economical sedan while my kids were growing.
Because I bought an Acura GSR and it started on fire after 10K miles.
Because I am getting older, and want to feel younger
Because I always felt that Porsche built the BEST cars
Becuase I always wanted a classic car that would turn heads when I drove by
Because I think that a great looking Porsche is a chick magnet (and my wife is the only chick I am now interested in)
Because my wife said she would be willing to go for rides with me as long as every trip we took wasn't to too many Pcar events.
Because I called a shop to see if they would do a PPI and he had a 73 E Targa that he was waiting to restore, and I AM THE ONE.

Hell, Because I want to!!!!

Because,

Because not everyone can do it.
Because it's not the normal thing to do.
Because you were always mad when you saw one and didn't have one.
Because very few really know what it is and think it cost $100k.
Because it says I don't care what you think but I know you think I'm cool.
Because it's old and will stick kick your a** any time any where.
Because you can be on this BBS and not feel stupid without one.
and most of all just BECAUSE!!

As the old saying goes..."If not for fast cars and wild women, a guy could be rich".
Or...I spend 90% of my money on fast cars and wild women....the rest I spend foolishly....on food and rent!

Because I can feel like I really accomplished something when I fix a short in 30 year old wiring.

(Of course, this is all hypothetical and highly dependent upon my actually finding and fixing the short.)

Zymurgist,

You've got the best of all combinations, a brewer and a Porschephile! I brew my own beer and mead and think it makes a great partner to troubleshooting the Porsche problems we inevitably encounter on a 30 year old car!
