Depressing? Please. Good for him. Much as I like my carbureted and modified twin-plug '83 SC, Big Dave is leagues ahead of an air-cooled flat motor. Some day, we'll all be neck-deep and asking him to throw us a line... Have some respect for ingenuity.

somehow i know that someday a fuel and oil consuming beast like a flat six air cooled 911 engine will be impossible to run.
which is depressing enough in itself. but this sort of ingenuity could just as well be done on something less sexy.. a Honda Civic or a Peugeot... Not on a Classic car when that day comes that i can no longer find or pay fuel and oil for my baby, i'll just park it in my living room...( and keep one tank of fuel for personal euthanasia when they diagnose me as terminally ill due to not enough good old fashion driving)

Oil leaks?
I have a strange desire to find out where this guy lives, break into his garage, and put a puddle of oil under his engine.
As for the modification.... to each his own, eh?

- Heh, heh -- let's see who else it nabs.... I don't mind him doing this -- there are lots of Pcars out there -- wish he put the batteries up front tho. Someday, electric cars will run rings around gas engined vehicles (tho something will be lost). Check out the 4s 0-60 electric car at the NYT web site. |
