Well I suppose it looks alright ;)
Keep us posted - that car will look outstanding when it is done!!! (edit) I can help with this: how long to you estimate it took you to re-assemble? I've had mine back for about 2.5 years and have got nearly nothing done. I can guarantee it probably won't be that long. Haha. |
Front end with bumper, rubbers, s trim , headlights, signals ,and adjustments honestely took over 10 hours. Partly because I sanded off the anodized finish on the S trim and resprayed it in semi gloss. Its a real job to position the bumper and upper moulding without doing damage to the paint. I was sucessfull and it came out perfect. The rear end was the same task but went a little faster(about 8 hours). Im almost afraid to touch this car because its such a flawless job. I figure between the drivtrain and interior I have another 300 hours in front of me. Im just a perfectionist I guess. But with well over $25k and counting invested so far how could I think of taking shortcuts. I spent over 400 hours restoring one of my other cars 7 years ago and its still scratch, rust and ding free(and daily driven). I started this project because there`s nothing else I can do to the R/S replica and I need a project every now and then. Im hoping I can get this car in Excellence magazine when its done. Do you think its a possible candidate ?

Here`s a picture of my last project that was mostly finished 7 years ago aside from an upgrade here and there. Its daily driven and still like it was 7 years ago. I got this car on the back cover and inside Waynes new engine book but would really like to get the blue one in excellence. And Bob yes the 350z is very close in color aside from the pearl used in the audi color.

Hey Kurt,
Nice car. How can you drive that daily and where do you park it so as not to get dings. If I go to the store and park a 1/4 mile from the store in the middle of the lot, someone is always parked next to me. It drives me nuts. I can't seem to relax about it. |
Dean, I never leave the car in a parking lot. Not even at 7/11 . I use it daily to go to work + other specific trips. To this date there still not one mark on it. I guess im just lucky, theres not even a stone chip on the front end from road debris . I do try hard to stay away from trucks and idiot drivers on the highway. I do however drive it in the rain(past 2 years only) but never in snow.
