Seine Systems vs. Robotek Shift Gate?
I'm trying to decide on which Shift Gate Kit to purchase, but I'm not sure what the differences are between the two.
There is the Robotek shifter from Smart Racing Products which is $299 and there is the Seine Systems Gate Shift Kit for $149. Are they both pretty much the same or is this a huge difference? Also, Smart Racing has their Wevo Shift Coupler for $195(!), is it really worth it? |
Seine systems would be my choice, if I were in your shoes. Also, update the bushings that your shifter uses. It'll make a big difference.

Thanks. |
Both. It has the same functionality as the Robotek (in using a spring to keep the shifter in the third-fourth gate) -- plus it has a tab for the first-second gate that relieves the spring tension like the stock shifter does for te fifth-reverse gate.

Less expensive and easy to install as well.

Just installed the Seine systems shift kit on my 901 transmission using a 915 shift tower. Shifts like a 915 now which is a huge improvement.
I have never had a problem shifting the 915. I think it is more a matter of method than anything. The only issues I've had can not be cured by a shift kit. I.E. Shfiting late in a turn when the trans is loaded by the body. Soild mounts seened to help this some. Of all the shifters I have tried, only the $ 500ish felt like a significant improvement. |
Does the wevo do the same thing as the seine system?
Do they work the same way? |
Get the WEVO.
Why settle for anything less? -Britain |
Wow, talk about resurrecting a really old thread! :)
So that question was asked in 2003, ever since then I've driven both Seine and Wevos. Both are pretty nice, but I gotta say, the whole WEVO kit is amazing. Of course, the overall Wevo kit is something like $800. Anyways, ever since then, I ended up having my 915 transmission rebuilt, added sport motor (*not* transmission) mounts while we were in there, and a factory short shift kit because my original shifter was actually broken. The car shifts *alot* better now, but it's still not a Japanese shifter or anything. So anyways, the latest news is that I went out and bought a BMW 330ci and sent the Porsche to my brother in Miami, FL. The car actually arrived in FL today. My brother has been ranting and raving about how much he loves the car. I'll be in Miami this weekend so I'll take the Porsche out on the turnpike....just for old times sake. :) |
The Wevo coupler is a great upgrade. I think the baulk in the shift pattern can often be related to poor coupler adjustment. The Wevo unit gets rid of the stock "play" and makes it much tighter and more accurate.
Well worth the money. Simon |
Wevo has 2 options
1. $595 2.$800+ will the $595 do the same thing if you already have a 915 trans. by just buying the shift coupler will this eliminate most of the play? |

Shifts like a 915 in quality of shift ( ) or in shift pattern? |
I'm pretty happy with my Seine systems unit. Probably the best value for money of all modifications I made to my car. Especially on the track it really helps to avoid expensive "mis- communications" with the 915 gearbox. The clamp solution (for 1st/2nd gate tension release) does not look very reliable, but has worked without problems for more than 2 years by now. Have not tried the Robotek system though so I can't compare.

Hi buster73
Maybe we can get together, I would like to feel the seine system. Are you going to next Rgruppe meet @ EASY? Maybe we can meet up sooner. Thanks |
The Wevo coupler eliminates a lot of the play. The Wevo shifter eliminates as much again and in addition spring loads the planes and reduces throw distances 30%.
So far I've put in the coupler and am very happy. I plan to change my shifter too but haven't decided on wheither to look at the Rennshift unit which I believe is similar but is less work to fit and is cheaper to boot. When next I need to drop the transmission the Wevo gate will go in. Simon |

"Sure, I'm planning to be at Easy on June 4th. I'm almost sure there will be other cars with all kind of shifter modifications so you can compare what feels best for you."
Sorry Buster, I was not able to make to EASY last june 4th but I was at part heaven rgruppe corral the following day but unfortunately forgot all about all this talk on trying out your shifter. Maybe nextime. I am thinking of the wevo shift coupler, according to many it eliminates the sloppy feel of the 915 trans. |
