Unbelievable Parts Blow Out!

Guys,

I was sufing e-bay looking for an engine for my 914 when I stumbled across this auction/seller. It looks like he has nearly 100 different items for the 356/912 - over 50 engine cases, pistons, bearings, etc. The engine cases are going for $25 each! I don't know much about the 356 and I have no association with the seller but I am thinking this would be a gold mine for some of you. Check it out at:

that's the "maestro's" stuff, and it's just an absentee bid.

This auction is for Harry Pellows estate, AKA the Maestro, who passed away earlier this year. It has been well advertised.

I agree it is quite a gold mine, but I suspect that the good stuff will not go cheap as many 356/912 folks know the value of Harry's goodies. The $25 asking price for the cases is an opening bid, which will probably be bid higher.

Harry's public contribution to the knowledge of the 356/912 engine was prolific and highly regarded. He has helped keep countless cars on the road, including my own.

I hope, for his family's sake, his stuff sells for a fair price.

15% "buyer's premium"?

And people whine about shipping charges!

Yes, I agree, 15% is a stiff premium, plus don't forget sales tax. That's over 23%!

What would be a realistic price for one of his 912/356 engines? I need one but have no clue as to what the ballpark is.

well this is gonna greatly reduce the amount of money they are gonna make

how many buyers for 356 engines are there??

I think they would have done better to sell a small lot at a time and have many bidders fight over a few auctions...

oh well

When you need one....big bucks, when you have one to sell, no takers. Expensive cranks and not a whole lot of HP....that's why I went with a Type IV 914 motor.....
