Just bought my first Porsche

Gentlemen:

It seems that I have spent every waking minute for the past three months reading this BBS. (I know that my wife feels that way.) I have now purchased the car of my dreams!!!

It is a Viper Green 73 "E" Targa with a numbers matching engine. I have added sport seats to it, and am having the seats reupholstered with inserts done in a black and white hounds tooth (Thanks for the idea, Eric). The car has had nearly every mechanical upgrade that I can find information about. New clutch, rebuilt tranny, and a solid engine. Leakdown and compression numbers are good.

The PPI is solid, with no rust. The engine is being pulled and the compartment repainted and engine detailed. I'm getting it from Mike McGrath at Toybox Motors in Westport, CT.

I am EXCITED AS HELL!!!! The only thing is that I can't pick it up till March. But, since I have been waiting to buy myself a Porsche since 1968, I can wait a few more months. or can I??

Before this, I have been a visitor. Now I feel like I belong.

I don't believe a word you're saying if you don't post pictures.

Congratulations. "Whoever said money cannot buy happiness has never owned a Porsche."

The only thing you'll ask yourself when you get it is, "Why did I wait so long?" Congrats and welcome. Glad you got a narrow body!

OK, but these are pictures sent from the shop, while he is starting the rebuild. And yes, the car is currently red, but it will be returned to its original Viper Green.

What is the color code for VG? Mine says 8282. It was green under red too.

Congrats, Larry. I too read the BBS while building 914 race car and look what it led to.....another project. It's gonna be a long winter for both of us. LOL

Guys, thanks for the welcome. I will keep you posted with Pix as I get them. Now I feel like I am part of you, not just an observer.

Zeke: My CofA says Emerald (Kelly) Green 3810, but the plate on the car says (if memory serves) 225.

Jeremy: Thanks for the jealousy. I feel like I found THE one that I have always wanted. My first color choice was a Blood Orange, but once I found that this was a matching numbers car, there was no choice but to paint it original Viper Green. Hey, a real eye catcher. Cool color. Isn't that one reason why we drive these, to catch a smile and a wave?
