steering wheel wobble on 67 - help!

My steering wheel wobbles on my 67 912. I can't find any info on this subject, and I can't find any part to fix it. Did this year have a bushing to be replaced like the years after, or is it something more complicated? I am getting desperate! Thanks

There's a spring behind the wheel hub which holds the shaft bearing in its seat, and they are often missing on the early cars. They are still available from the dealer as an assembly (with the bearing) I believe, but it is about $370 for the part. Check the Early S Registry forum for discussion on some alternate fixes, or ignore it.
