NE reference on how to wire my 911 as a track car?
I know that this might at first sound odd, but I am wanting to wire my car for track use, not for daily driving....so I am looking for a wiring schematic, or reference for doing this...
Does anyone have experience, or drawings for this? I was thinking of just buying a "wiring" kit from Summit, and using it to wire the 911?? Any thoughts on this? I want to still have turn signals, and most importantly, brake lights ![]() But all the other "add-on" stuff is not necessary...... Will this affect the starting/running of the car? Will this affect the tach or speedo? Will this affect any supplementary gauges that I add? Would I be better off just modifying my stock 911 harness. thanks, chris

Chris,
The easiest, cheapest and most didactic way to do that is to remove the non necessary wiring yourself. That way there is no guessing how to re-wire the essentials, you can check the condition of the remaining wires, and you'll know your car's electrics like no one. I have done this, and it was huge fun and big teaching course. GeorgeK |

Wiring the car just for the basics
Quote:
I like order I started getting rid of things that I didn't need: -door light pins -glove box light -cig lighter -fog lights -OEM Porsche clock -rear defrost -radio -etc. I would like to have it so I can get into the car, turn the key, start the motor, and go. I would like to retain brake lights, turn signals, instrument lights, and that is it ! I also hope that this allows me to clean up the trunk area. The weird thing is, I started deleting stuff I didn't need, and then the right side, rear parking light came on ![]()

I asked some questions about the engine wiring harness. I did not get much response. Just find the circuits you don't need, find the wires and remove. Its
71/3.0 swap - engine wire harnes ???'s Just find the circuits you don't need, find the wires and remove. Its pretty simple, although removing the harness, untaping, and tracing is the hard, time consuming part.
