Cheap roller shipping
I'm always game for a road trip, but what is the most absolute cheapest way to ship a roller that needs work (like paint).
It would be comming from So.Cal to Southern ontario (CANADA) total distance would be like 2500miles. I'd make the drive, but not if its only going to save me a couple hundred bucks. Any experiences or referances? Adam

Adam:
If by "roller", you mean a non-running car that has brakes, wheels and steering, it will be more than a couple of hundred bucks. Auto transport companies don't like cars that don't run. If they will take them at all, they charge more for them. Then you still have to deal with exporting the car from the US and inporting it into Canada (yes, this involves two separate things) and pay GST, PST and duty It also is much easier to import if the car is 15 years old or older. I paid about $1300 US to ship a non runner from Virgina to Great Falls Montana and then I did the export/import thing myself. All in all, the process is not hard, but kind of frustrating and pricey. PM me if you need more information. Tim |

Yes the car is a non runner (w/o engine) and I have a contact in the US that could aid me in exporting importing it. And thankfully its over 15 years old. $1300 is a little more than i expected to spend (can nearly drive there for the much, my time is cheap)
Any more advice? Adam

Find an 18 wheeler flatbed returning to Canada empty. That would be the cheapest.
