I saw a 1986 Carrera with a updated C2 body kit, new 17" rims, and a somewhat cheapo paint job. The poor guy who owns it has been trying to sell it for over 2 months at least.
The major problem is that the updated C2 look and the paint job is probably what is causing many buyers to not buy the car. http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/class/00082..._L5gyCXvl3VgU9 The guys ad with more pictures.. http://www.craigslist.org/pen/car/16749806.html |

That 86 for sale has RUF bumper updates, not C2.
The C2 upgrade can get a little pricey if you end up having to buy brand new lighting (ie. front fogs, rear tail lights and center reflecter etc.). You can install the parts yourself. You will need to fabricate some brackets for the bumpers. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1064672238.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1064672356.jpg |
Matt, your car looks great! I was wonderng what looked a little different about it and then realized you have no rocker panels!
From my research on updating to the c2/4 look, you will need to shop diligently for used lighting if you are on any kind of a budget. Lighting could be obtained for under $7-800 used and fiberglass is all around $1000 from many different manufacturers, some of which include mounting hardware. You could save another $200-250 by deleting the rocker panels like Matt did. All of this sounds like a job that can be done by a somewhat unskilled home mechanic. Good luck and keep us posted! Find someone with a 964 who want to do a simple backdate to an impact bumper look. Personally I would be looking into any type of backdate if I bought a 964 with its inflatable looking bumpers.

I did a c2 wide body on my sc, i wouldnt worry about resale unless you plan to sell it really soon then i still wouldnt worry, places like nr or better bodies, ma shaw or bw you can find them in excellence have kits that allow you to run your stock rear lights incase you want to convert back, my self i have always hated the sc blade impact bumpers, make sure you buy thier bumper reinforcements and rear heat shild, I went ahead and put c2 lights in my car, i was gonna do a nrrow car at first and remember that the kit was 1100 and new lights were around a grand, i bought used lights and i think im gonna buy new because the tail lights on these cars are known to fade and my lights are lightly faded, i think youll like the out come, but, after i got the wide body and c2 bumpers on, everyone wanted to race, so I put a 3.6 in, Be very carefuil of the 3.6 bug, :D , Kevin

Guy on ebay right now trying to sell an 84 thats converted to widebody c2 look that he says has a 3.6 in it ( it looks like a 3.2). It has a nice set of fikse 17's and the paint and body appear to be good. I sent him an email asking about a price. He told me he had a dealer that would pay him 30k for the car but he was obligated by the ebay rules to finish the auction. Of course I just about fell off my seat laughing, 30k LoL. By the way he was also a dealer.
