Le Mans road trip -advice?

I am hoping to drive my targa (with a cap on- PWD72S )down to Le Mans in a couple of weeks time and seek advice on location/names of roads which are part of the track?.
I thought it might be fun to drive the car and have some pics taken on some key track sections?
Anyone have any advice on where might be fun to visit there or near there.
Many thanks
Ben
PS I will try and post the results here when I return.

My wife and I are planning a trip to Europe next summer for the Race. Send pics and anything else you learn.

Try contacting Ben Lovejoy. He seems to know an awful lot about European tracks.

I will try and post as many pics as I can but may need some help if they need 'hosting' but we can deal with that nearer the time.
There must be some cool bars/hotels? corners?
Anyone????

Yeah.

it's pretty easy to find your way around. there's signs for the track. I navigated by landmark...gas stations etc...

eat at the cafe along the mulsanne straight...one thing on the menu, I've never been disappointed...(probably been there a dozen times)
DO NOT miss the museum
be sure to take a walk at the grandstand at turn one.

On the mulsanne, you'll pass two roundabouts...the you'll go over the hump, then into the sharp right at the end...as you continue after the sharp right, you bend slightly right and go under the banner across the road...about 1/4 mile up from there is where the mercedes flipped in '99

after that is indianapolis fast right into really slow 90 left into 90 right.

after the right at the stop sign, you head back toward the infield section. you'll see where the road continues into the infield. You can't go up. a little way up from there is the old white house section (maison blanche) and there's a road that takes you under the track to the infield. you can go that way to see the pits, or you can keep going to see the mueseum.

hope this helps, some of it's a bit fuzzy...I was there in 2000 with the cadillac LMP team.

Don't miss the motor car museum under the grand stand (Where I seem to remember it being) - excellent.

one word of advice
the frenchies have gone obsessive on speeding lately...
as foreigner you pay cash or leave your car
if you overdo it, you loose the car and your license on the spot..

svandamme is right. If a driver coming the other way flashes you, they are not saying hello, they are warning you of a radar sight ahead of you.

The best bit of the circuit is after the Mulsanne turn, through Indianapolis and Arnage.

they got you ?nick?

it's been a while since i was in france, but was very lucky
was flying low over the highway between Alpes Duez and Lyon , with my Golf, slipstreaming on a Saab turbo (the saab obviously faster then my Tdi) then came to the tol booth

blue uniforms at every gate, they look at my plate and wave me through, phew
and i see the Saab and a Mercedes that was flying along both pulled to the side... they weren't going to get off the hook since we were all doing sustained 190kmh+ during the last 30 kms
i was very lucky , cause i was flat broke , barely enough cash to pay my fuel back to Belgium and i don't think my mother would have driven 850 kilometers to come bail me and my car out of jail
