Husborne Crawley Autojumble and GB weekend with Nick Moss

Hi all,
We drove up with the fiancee from home in Switzerland to Great Britain. The original plan was to go meet Nick Moss, whom I bought 2 early fenders from for my RS. The plan expanded when he mentionned the Husborne Crawley autojumble that was held this saturday at the White Horse pub.
So what do wee need to go there? a camera, a car with a large trunk:

A good guide:

A better driver:

So after an easy trip up, we arrived at Nick Moss's place. We got to see the Mexico blue Carrera. Nick's a perfectionist. Everything is perfect, and everything has a reason to be done the way it is:

We talked cars for the better part of the evening, then the next morning it was off to the autojumble. We both made good deals, but Nick made the best one. He'll tell you if he wants; suffice to say it involves rare parts. I scored an exhaust for the 930, a few panels for the RS resto, and some very interesting seat brackets:

The seat brackets I bought from Mark Waring of Worldwide classics, who is an RS/RSR dealer extraordinaire, and had these made as exact replicas of the brackets that are in the Kremer orange and black RSR he restored and sold one or two years ago. They allow the seat to be mounted about 1 inch lower, very good for taller drivers.
So all in all a most excellent weekend, where I got to meet other pelicans (Hi AlanUK!). I hope I'll be there next year too!

I went with a small list of fixings and grommets that I needed. Of course I didn't buy any of the stuff I REALLY need, but did find a set of 8 + 9 x 15 Fuchs, a good SWB engine cover, a pair of seats and harnesses, some deep dish 6" Fuchs, some rear spacers.....

The problem was that George kept buying stuff and I only have a small estate car.

the Autojumble was a splendid event, got everything I wanted for very reasonable prices, and the sun even shined!

This will certainly become a regular event for me

Nick,

Your car is looking fantastic. Are you going to anodize the trim or go with bright trim? How did you rebuild your 911/83 engine into a 2.8?

George,

My wife just bought a '99 Mercedes E320 wagon and she loves it. She was tired of the SUV look and ride. She bought one with 4 matic and a rear seat to keep the kids seperated. That option alone is worth it .

Hi Brian,
These MBs rock! You only have to wake up from time to time to correct the trajectory. Mine is the easiest to drive car I have ever owned (300TE-24). I am however now negotiating a switch to my mechanics 300TE 4matic.
I'll give details about the RS tank catch can and dump valve on another thread.
@ Nick: You bought 6X15s?? I did not realise that. Message for next time: we take MY CAR!

The 6 x 15 deep dish I agreed to buy from Mark Waring.

Brian, the trim is black anodized, the engine was already in the car, it has Mahle 92mm barrels and pistons.
