901 transmission question
My 901 5-speed works really well except for when it's in 5th gear. At mid-range and lower rpm's, it'll pop out of gear when I go uphill and put a load on it. I'm not sure what the miles are as I bought it used to replace the previous 901 tranny that gave up the ghost.
I changed all the shifter bushings the other day (huge improvement in the feel , by the way) but it still popped out of gear. Any ideas what it could be?

Check the coupler adjustment . Its in front of the rear seats under the metal grill . I think you should have no trouble finding the correct adjustment procedure if you search this site.
BTW how is 3rd gear ? That too could be affected(as far as the ajustment theory goes) if 5th is giving trouble. Kurt Williams

First and third gear are great; no problems. I couldn't find a coupler adjusment for the 901 on this site. There's one for the 915 in the tech articles, but that's a horse of a different color....
