Powerbleeder help

[88 Club Sport]

I picked up a Powerbleeder from Wayne after reading all of the good posts but need some help. Looks to be straight forward but I'm loosing pressure at the reservoir and cannot not figure out what I’m I could be doing wrong.

I know the bleeder is generating pressure as the gauge shows pressure building when I plug the bleeder cap with my finger but when I attached the cap to the reservoir (tight, with the gasket that came with it) I am unable to build pressure.

Any ideas on what is going wrong ? I’m using it on a stock ’88 Carrera reservoir after replacing the front rotors.

Have you clamped off the hose at the top of the brake fluid resevoir?

Are you pinching the overflow hose on the reservoir? I use flat note vice grips padded with rubber blocks.

This is funny. I used the Motive bleeder this morn. On the 914, the overflow is out of the rim around the cap and not in the resevoir itself. So, I pump it up and, WTF? There is ATE Super blue all over the ground under the front of the car. That's when I clamped the overflow tube. Subtle differences on these cars keeps you on your toes.

OK, I've got a dumb question. I used my new power bleeder last week & didn't pinch off my overflow tube, it pumped up & bled fine with no puddle on the floor. Does this mean my overflow tube is clogged? Should I be concerned with this? TIA

I don't think it is too big of a deal. You might want to just pull it off and check it out though. Watch out for brake fluid! Get a rag! It will kill your carpet and paint.

I don't know why everyone has to go through the routine of finding out they have the clap the hose first time they use the Power bleeder? I learned from brake fluid all over the floor. I email the manufacturer, the owner claimed the instruction is perfectly fine. I just don't read it carefully enough.

Maybe the point is to check for leaks in the system before the fluid. This would be done by applying pressure to the system BEFORE the fluid. Not a direct quote. You get what I am saying?
