New record starting price for a 911T on eBay: $45K(!)

...But that's not the funny part.

The owner spent $30K having the Porsche Factory restore the body.

Can you guess where he sent the engine?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2436118003

(some suspicious stuff: "0" rated seller; "non-refundable $6K deposit")

(eBay is almost as wild & wooly as California politics!)

Why would a guy spend almost $30k on a factory body restoration, then send the engine to motormeister?!

Let's see, he is dumb enough to send the car all the way to Germany when he can get the car properly restored in the US. He fell for MM's great marketing.

They do if your initials are J.S. I think he owns the very first production 911 and had the factory fully restore it....

The rumor was that Seinfeld's "first" 901 cost a total of $1.25 million, between the purchase price and the cost of a Factory restoration.

It's good to be king...

As I mentioned before. I asked the local Porsche dealer if a 1984 3.2 engine could be bought new from Porsche. He said "Yes."
I said "How much?"
he said "Hold on, let me look."
I waited. With a straight face he said, "$45,000"
I laughed.

I think crack is the drug of choice here... For a 'T'. I've NEVER heard of the factory restoring a body. But cash is cash... CRAZY... I thought I found some good ones... anyone seen this???
